About Me
Hi there! My name is Sophie Shoults. I'm from a tiny town on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I went to college at the University of Southern Mississippi where I received my BSBA in Marketing (and a certificate in Professional Selling).
I spent my time in college learning digital marketing professionally, but on the side, I was in a women's a cappella ensemble (yes, like Pitch Perfect ) called the Southern Belletones; a graduate ensemble, The Southern Chorale; I was worship leader at the Wesley Foundation and Petal United Methodist Church; I was a youth intern at Parkway Heights United Methodist, I was (am) a sorority woman affiliated with Delta Gamma.... and so on.
But you didn't come here to read my lengthy résumé. (If you did come here to read my résumé, click here!) More than likely, you came here to see if I really do know what I'm doing as it pertains to web design and content creation. OR, perhaps you're incredibly interested in the female Millennial mind and want to read my blog.
If that's the case, let me give you a little more information about why (and how) I know my stuff.
I moved to Georgia almost two years ago when I was fresh out of college, and I started my own business not long after that. I'm neither a billionaire nor a dummy, so of course my business has always been on the side of my day job. For the first stretch of my career, I worked as a Marketing and Promotions Coordinator for a startup digital marketing agency coaching company.
I learned a lot about digital marketing there. I was more or less in charge of the majority of the marketing efforts, but quickly found a cozy home in email marketing, marketing campaign structure, web design, and site maintenance.
Through that company, I went to a few conferences and I was in tons of coaching calls. I did a ton of work on my own after hours, bought a site domain and started playing around, and thought to myself, "Hey. I can really help people with this." So I set out on a mission to do just that.
When I first started out on this venture, I was a fresh college grad. But now, I just started a brand new job, recently got engaged, and moved to a new city.
Since I've settled into my new life, I'm ready to embark on the journey of helping others just like you create a website for their businesses that you are actually proud of.
I can't tell you the amount of times I've heard people say something to the effect of, "Look me up! Here, let me give you my website address. Sorry, it looks terrible right now, you'll have to forgive me."
I hate that! No one should want to apologize for their web presence. And I get it. Hiring a marketing agency can get REALLY expensive, so it's hard for a startup or one-man-band to afford that up front.
But it's a necessity in this business climate. If you can't be found on the internet... Are you really setting yourself up for success?
That's why people like me exist! I'm here to help people who want (and need) a website, but aren't quite willing to fork over the buckets of cash it takes to hire a big-box marketing agency. You don't need someone to tell you that "the blue coloring they placed on your site represents the water that flows through your prospects" (and then charge you $10,000 for it).
You need someone who will give you web presence where your prospective customers or clients can contact you. And as luck would have it, that's exactly what I can do. I can give you a customized, responsive website that can tell your customers or clients exactly what they need to know in order to give you their business.
The most important characteristics of a website are:
Of course there are many more important characteristics to a great website, but if your current website (if you even have one) doesn't get a resounding 5/5 rating on each of these three points, you might as well not even have a website at all. Now, is this a harsh statement? Yes. Do I still hold firm to it? Absolutely.
I don't charge at all for a consultation. If you want me to take a look at your website and tell you if I have the ability to make it better, click here to reach out. It certainly can't hurt. I'd love to help you create a website that you're proud to put on a business card. Not one you feel the need to apologize for.
I'm looking forward to working with you 🙂
